Parent letter regarding Acuity tests and Final Exam
8 – Purple/Silver
Dear Parents,
Every 8th grader in the Archdiocese of Louisville will take an Algebra exam online through the Acuity website. This test will count as their final exam for their class this year. In addition, the score they receive on this test will be sent to the Catholic high school where they are registered. The high schools will use this test to determine the level of math class for the freshman year. This test is extremely important for both their grade this year and their placement in high school. 8th graders at St. Nicholas will take this test on Monday, May 6th.
Students will be preparing for this test during the remainder of the year in several ways. The first is through taking review tests on the Acuity website. Your child has an individual account in this system and will be assigned tests to take online at home. Your child is required to take one or two tests per week until the final. (See dates below.) He/she will receive completion credit as part of the weekly homework grade for taking these tests. 2 bonus points will be awarded for every test score of 70% or higher. All tests must be completed by 7:00 AM on April 29th. The passwords will be reset at this time and students will not be able to access their accounts until May 6th when they take the final exam.
We will also be reviewing material from the entire year in class. Your child should have a stapled packet for every chapter we completed this year. The packet has the chapter test, quizzes, homework, and notes. It is time to start reviewing now! In addition, your child will receive a study guide and practice test approximately 2 weeks before the final.
My goal is for all the 8th grade students to finish the year strong and show the high schools how much they have learned this year. If you have any questions about this test or what the students will be doing to prepare, please feel free to contact me.
